The Pick Your Own Sunflowers farm is located 90 minutes drive west of Melbourne. When taking the western freeway you will arrive just before Ballarat at the base of Mount Buninyong.

The best times for photography will be when you have some sunlight streaming through the flowers. After the sunlight has passed the field will look flat and a bit lifeless. The farm may not be open during dawn and dusk times but if you reach out to the owners as I did they may grant you special access. It’s just a shame that owners chose to put a social media call out to all photographers and general sightseers on the night that I arranged special access.  This meant that it was impossible to capture a good composition without people or other photographers in the frame.
